Free PDF to JPG Converter is a convenient and focused tool that can convert any PDF document to the JPEG image format.
One use for the PDF format is that it’s a convenient container for storing multiple images. Well, here’s a program that can take a PDF document and convert it into images. This process isn’t limited to PDF documents serving as image containers. It can take any PDF page and make it an image. Of course, interactive PDF elements will lose their interactivity, but that’s just a limitation of their new format.
Free PDF to JPG Converter has a simple menu: File, List and About. The file gives you the tools to add files and even entire folders for conversion. These options are mirrored in the user interface itself: Add File and Add Folder. Adding folders is a nice touch that makes it easy to add many PDF documents at a time. The List menu contains tools for manipulating the batch. These are mirrored in the UI as well: Remove File(s), Remove All and Select All. Select All is particularly handy when you want to set an output characteristic across the entire batch.
You can set one output path for the batch. If you don’t set an output path, Free PDF to JPG Converter will output to its installation directory. There’s also checkboxes for “Open folder when complete” and “Show conversion errors.” An error log is also available in the root path. Although the program name is Free PDF to JPG Converter, you can convert to BMP, PNG, and TIFF as well. You can also set the output size. By default, this option is set to “default size.” That means that the program will output based on the characteristics of the PDF document. To force a particular size across the batch, you can choose 800x600, 1024x768 or 1280x1024.
When you’re ready to convert a batch, click the Start button. Free PDF to JPG Converter will process each PDF in the list sequentially. Each PDF is converted into its own page, so if you have a 10-page PDF document, that will result in 10 images. Each image will be named and numbered according to the PDF document format so that you can easily organize them.
Free PDF to JPG Converter is a great tool that sets out to do a single job and does it well. There’s not much to complain about, but the coloring of the user interface is a bit of an eyesore. It doesn’t take advantage of Windows themes for aesthetic compatibility. That means that the olive green that the developers have chosen is always there and often a stark contrast to your colors of choice.
